EnviroMedia Adds Global Tech Nonprofit and National Carton Packaging Coalition to Client Roster
Ad agency opens Portland office to work on Healthy Eating and Clean Air Campaigns&l
(AUSTIN, Texas)—EnviroMedia Social Marketing’s growing client roster now includes a global nonprofit dedicated to cutting computer energy consumption, a national carton recycling group and two state agencies in Oregon. Climate Savers Computing Initiative hired EnviroMedia to help reduce computer power use 50 percent by 2010. Climate Savers Computing Initiative is a group of eco-conscious consumers, businesses and conservation organizations around the world dedicated to the development of more energy efficient technologies and promotion and deployment of smart computing practices. More than 400 companies and organizations have joined the Initiative since its launch in 2007 including Dell, Google, HP, Intel, Lenovo, Microsoft, and World Wildlife Fund. Sponsors include Acer, AMD, Delta Electronics, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Intuit, Lite-On, NEC, Sun and Supermicro. “We evaluated some great agencies, but EnviroMedia was the best fit for us,” said Pat Tiernan, executive director of Climate Savers Computing. “Improving the environment, developing effective campaigns and creative marketing has been their expertise for years, so we knew they could hit the ground running. Reducing computer energy consumption is a huge global challenge with the potential to have dramatic effects on climate change. We need an agency that understands this issue and can respond with innovative, creative solutions.” “We pitched the business while my business partner and I were serving as delegates to the U.N. Climate Change conference in Poland last December,” said Kevin Tuerff, president and principal of EnviroMedia Social Marketing. “Motivating people worldwide to change their behaviors and reduce the impact of computers on the environment is a daunting challenge, but it’s one we’re excited to tackle.” National Recycling Campaign For the Carton Council, EnviroMedia will implement a national recycling campaign for leading manufacturing companies including Elopak, Evergreen, Sig, Sig Cambibloc and Tetra Pak. EnviroMedia will help promote recycling of cartons for juice, soup, milk and other foods. The assignment includes branding and message development, advertising, media relations, community relations and an experiential marketing tour. EnviroMedia West Promoting eating healthy among low-income families in four southern Oregon counties is the goal of a new campaign commissioned by Oregon State University Extension Service. OSU Extension Service hired EnviroMedia to create a comprehensive campaign including advertising, media relations, online content, outreach and educational DVDs. EnviroMedia is also heading up an obesity prevention campaign in Texas for the Texas Department of State Health Services. “Obesity prevention has been a passion of ours for a long time,” said Valerie Davis, CEO and principal of EnviroMedia Social Marketing and board member for the Children’s Environmental Health Institute. “We see a lot of opportunity on the West Coast to continue our efforts to promote health and the environment, which is why we opened a Portland office.” EnviroMedia will strategize with the State of Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to create a clean diesel recognition program for fleet vehicles. Due to their durability, fuel economy and power, diesel engines are an important part of the economy, but their exhaust can also pose serious public health risks. In Oregon, diesel exhaust is a leading air concern, with concentrations in many counties above health benchmark levels. The State of Oregon's Department of Environmental Quality hired EnviroMedia to develop a program to recognize diesel fleets that reduce emissions, lowering their impact on public health. To lead its Portland new business efforts, EnviroMedia has hired Zach Hyder, a former Vice President with Fleishman-Hillard. A Portland native, Zach will serve as EnviroMedia’s Regional Director for its West Coast operations.
