Paradise Gran Canaria

Things To Do / June 15, 2014

8 / 10

It is situated in the heart of Taurito, one of the island’s most relaxed resorts, and the beach is a short stroll away. The airport is 30 minutes away by car and it’s a 10-minute drive to Puerto de Mogán.

Style & character

A ground-floor entrance leads to a hotel which has been built into a cliff face. The local stone used as the exterior only serves to make the Paradise Valle Taurito become one with its surroundings, giving off a very eco-tourist vibe in the process.

Service & facilities

9 / 10

The all-inclusive package includes free entry to the Lago Taurito waterpark; the rides and slides are as popular with teens as they are with tots. We splashed about there in the morning and then chilled at the first-floor pool in the afternoon. You have to pay extra for the more exclusive Krabi spa, 15€ (£10) for a circuit with indoor swimming pool, sauna and Turkish bath. Treatments include Volcanic Lava Exfoliation. There's also padel, squash, a gym and tennis courts.

Rooms

Our adjoining double rooms were generously proportioned, providing plenty of space for a family of five. Contemporary by design with chocolate-coloured walls and minimalist wooden beds, they felt classy but hardwearing enough to survive a visit from our five-year-old. Terraces afford a close-up view of the Atlantic.

Food & drink

7 / 10

The first-floor international buffet restaurant stays open until 9:30pm for dinner. There’s a children's menu with chicken nuggets and chips plus a television showing classic films for kids. And the pool bar was perfect to tuck into snacks as we made the most of our late check out.

The all-inclusive bracelets allow you to pour your own beer and wine at meal times as well as sampling the alcoholic beverages at the bars which include cocktails. There’s a beach á la carte restaurant which guests receive a discount for and a La Bamba disco inside the waterpark open Monday to Saturday.
